O desafio do futuro nas empresas: tecnologia? Não, comunicação!

At an event that brought together CEOs and interns, the Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting, the conversation revolved around the future: how technology can transform work, what to leave behind and the actions to take in the present to shape the coming days, months and years.

What can we expect from the future in the workplace?

We can't predict the future. But according to the discussions at the event, expectations for the future in organizations are sealed:

  • For almost 150 representatives of the new generation, the expectation is a working environment where there is active listening, trust, openness and empathy.
  • As for the almost 100 leaders, they expect protagonism, engagement, commitment and resilience from the new generations.

In other words, on the one hand, young people want to be heard. On the other, leaders demand engagement. In fact, this is the current dilemma that we are expected to work on in the coming years.

But how? Let's see!

What about technology?

We still have to include one more variable in this equation: technological change, which is continuing apace everywhere.

Many still question how much technology will interfere or help at work, especially in the corporate environment.

Whether people will be replaced or the new era will demand more of our knowledge.

In any case, what's important to know about technology is that we need to focus on our humanity and our abilities as human beings, which no technological transformation will replace.

And this is exactly where the solution to the aforementioned dilemma comes in, as well as the final analysis of the research carried out at the event.

In other words, the challenge for the future of companies, teams and people is not, in fact, in technology, but in communication, a fundamental skill that is unique to living beings.

Communication and the meeting of generations

While some talk about conflicts between the generations, we prefer to look at all this as a generational encounter. Because at the crossroads of the paths taken by technological advancement, it is humanity that will be the differentiator, whether in the workplace or in interpersonal relationships.

What's more, according to experts, there is a huge competitive advantage in this meeting of generations: collective intelligence.

On the one hand, collaboration and flexibility are required. On the other, motivation is required.

How can we overcome the challenge and take advantage of the meeting of generations and this collective intelligence?

Through approaches that see the generations and their humanities. In other words, we need a focus on behavior and skills such as communication, rather than a technical basis for knowing how to deal with technology, for example.

Therefore, investing in training that focuses on this now is making sure that the future is sustainable, even if we can't predict it.
